ABOUT CHILDREN’S CENTRE
The Children’s Centre offers children the educational and recreational facilities they need for full development. Click on objectives, history, facilities and support for more information.
The library, with its collection of over 10,000 books and other materials, encourages inquiry, voluntary reading and information literacy, both in the immediate and larger community. It also serves as a teaching laboratory for the university and provides a research collection on African children’s literature.
Programs offered during the vacation and throughout the year foster development in the creative arts, science and technology,
environmental awareness, sports, and other areas. The centre also organizes programs with and for university students and the general public.
The centre provides outreach services to schools, the prison and motherless babies home. It helps organize conferences and workshops for teachers. Through the Psycho-Educational Testing Service (PETS) the centre serves children and youth with special needs.
