The Children's Centre has hosted refresher courses and workshops for teacher/librarians, nursery school personnel, and teachers. These have been in cooperation with such bodies as the Anambra State School Libraries Association and the early childhood organization OMEP, among others. In October 2000 the Centre hosted the Annual Conference of the Nigerian School Library Association (NSLA), shown here.

Other workshops have concerned family planning, environmental education, Nigerian children's literature, conflict resolution, and shadow puppetry. The Children's Centre has also hosted programs of the University Women's Association, including lectures on such topics as women in leadership positions, stress management, reproductive health, sickle cell anaemia, retirement and aging, preparing local foods, medicinal herbs, and waste management.

The library has also cooperated with the Nsukka Local Education Authority in holding a series of workshops for teacher-librarians of local schools that are developing their libraries. These have taken up such topics as cataloguing the library collection, promoting reading and learning through story hours, and developing information literacy across the curriculum. Staff and students of the Department of Library and Information Science also visit schools to conduct on-site workshops and help organize their libraries.

Materials from the Children's Centre Library supported a national workshop exploring the role of school libraries in the basic education programme. The workshop, organized by UNN's Department of Library and Information Science for the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), attracted participants from all over the federation to Abuja from September 18-22, 2007. The Children's Centre supplied extensive book and bulletin board displays to support sessions on resources for learning, project work and reading promotion.
