Dr. Grace Uchechi Onyebuchi - Vice-Chair

Secretary 2018-2022. Lecturer I in the Dept. of Library and Information Science with special interest in information literacy. Leader in the committee’s schools and prison library outreach; member of sub-committees on school libraries, website and social media; organizer of events and holiday programs, and literacy and creative writing workshops. PhD on entrepreneurship improvement through secondary school library-based comic writing programs; MLS project on developing a library periodcurriculum forteaching information literacy skills in primary schools. Dr. Elizabeth Titilope Babarinde - Secretary

former Asst. Secretary/Financial Secretary. Lecturer II in Dept. of Library and Information Science; immediate past Librarian at Children’s Centre. Active in school and prison outreach and vacation programs; served in Children’s Centre during her National Youth Service in 2006. Ph.D on school library resources and secondary students’ acquisition of information literacy; Masters project on socio-economic factors affecting reading habits of junior secondary students. Amaka Jidere – Asst. Secretary/Financial Secretary

Assistant Librarian in the University Library and Masters student in Library and Information Science. Dr. Ngozi Osadebe - Member

Chair 2018-2022; Secretary 2002-2018. Deputy University Librarian in the University Library heading the special needs section. Organizer of children’s programs and literacy activities, including the noted “Cubs” Reading/Football  Club and literacy promotion in prisons. Supervised the Children’s Centre renovation of 2021. Ph.D degree on meeting the information needs of hearing-impaired students received award as the best in Nigerian library schools in 2016. Prof. Virginia (Jill) Dike – Member

Chair 2002-2018; past Secretary and Chair of Library Committee 1978-2002; Financial Secretary of UWA, 1976-79, Treasurer, 1993-97. University Professor (retired) in Library and Information Science, specializing in children’s services and school librarianship.  Initiator and coordinator of the library as a teaching laboratory for library and information science and base for outreach programs. Founding Mother of the Children’s Centre; honored as Matriarch of UWA Children’s Centre Library in 2022.   Received University of Nigeria distinguished service award in 2004 for contributions to Children’s Centre. Prof. Nancy Achebe – Senior Member

Professor and former Head of Department, Library and Information Science (2015-2019). In this capacity she provided new staff and other assistance to the Children’s Centre as teaching laboratory.
