Children’s Centre has hosted refresher courses and workshops for teacher-librarians, nursery school personnel, and teachers, in cooperation with the Anambra State School Libraries Association. These have taken up such topics as cataloguing the library collection, promoting reading and learning through story hours, and developing information literacy across the curriculum. The Centre co-hosted the Annual Conference of the Nigerian School Library Association (NSLA )and Nigerian Association of Library and Information Science Educators (NALISE) in 2009.

Materials from the Children’s Centre Library supported a national workshop exploring the role of school libraries in the basic education programme, held at the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) in 2007,with extensive book and bulletin board displays to support sessions on resources for learning, project work and reading promotion.

In 2013 Children’s Centre co-hosted the Mid-term Conference of the Reading Association of Nigeria and a pre-conference workshop for teachers on literacy development through comic book writing. This was led by Dr. Michael Bitz, an American educator who first initiated this approach to literacy, and his Nigerian counterpart, Prof. Obiajulu Emejulu.
